On Thursday, February 26, the next session of the Santander Biomedical Lectures program will take place. On this occasion, Dr. Fernando Rivadeneira will deliver a lecture entitled: “Clinical Applications of Polygenic Risk Scores”.

Dr. Fernando Rivadeneira is a physician and PhD in Health Sciences, with solid training in clinical, genetic, and endocrine epidemiology obtained at Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Pontifical Javeriana University of Bogotá. He is currently a Professor of Translational Genomics with a focus on the skeletal system at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, where he works in both the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery. He has an extensive academic career at this institution, where he has previously served as Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Postdoctoral Researcher, and PhD candidate.

His research activity focuses on the genetics and epidemiology of bone and musculoskeletal diseases, with a clear international impact recognized through prestigious awards such as the Fuller Albright Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and his inclusion as a Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters. He has supervised a large number of PhD, postdoctoral, and master’s students—many of them graduating cum laude—and actively participates in postgraduate training programs and the development of international academic curricula, including WHO initiatives.

In addition, he holds significant institutional responsibilities as principal investigator in major population studies, research group leader, and member of academic steering committees. He plays an important role in organizing international scientific conferences and evaluating research projects for European and other national agencies. He serves on the editorial boards of several high-impact scientific journals and is an active member of numerous international scientific societies in the fields of human genetics, epidemiology, and bone research.

The session will take place in the Téllez Plasencia Hall (Building 16) at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital on Thursday, February 26 at 08:15. No registration is required. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
