The General Assembly of the Joint Action PreventNCD (JA PreventNCD) was held in Rome, attended on behalf of the Marqués de Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL) and the Health Department of the Government of Cantabria by Ana P. Medina, Blanca Benito, María Zúñiga, and Carlos Fernández Viadero.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the project’s progress and the actions planned for the coming months, highlighting the contribution of the various European partners to the development of strategies for the prevention of non‑communicable diseases and the reduction of health inequalities.
The representatives from Cantabria took an active part in the working sessions and presented several results obtained in the region. Ana Paula Medina delivered the communication “Quality Improvement in Primary Care: Tobacco and Nicotine Use During Pregnancy”, while Carlos Fernández Viadero presented the poster “Opinions on Health Equity and Stigma among Healthcare Professionals: Analysis of a Survey in Cantabria, Spain”. In addition, the team from the Health Department presented two further scientific posters: “Secondhand Smoke Exposure in Households in Cantabria: The Influence of Children on Indoor Smoking Behaviors” and “Trends in Tobacco Use Prevalence Among Primary Care Healthcare Professionals in Cantabria, 2004–2024”.
Over the coming months, the ongoing work and pilot studies will continue, enabling progress toward achieving the objectives of JA PreventNCD and developing recommendations for the prevention of non‑communicable diseases in Europe.
