The ICAP Training programme offers free content on the regulatory, ethical and operational framework of clinical trials with medicines in Primary Care
Farmaindustria has launched the Clinical Research in Primary Care Training Programme (ICAP Training), an initiative aimed at promoting and strengthening clinical research at this level of care across the Spanish National Health System.
The training builds on the work carried out in recent years within the framework of the ICAP Guide. Recommendations for good practices to promote clinical research in Primary Care and the actions jointly promoted with the autonomous communities.
With an estimated duration of 10 hours, the ICAP Training programme is delivered 100% online, is free of charge and provides permanent access to its contents. The programme is structured into 7 thematic blocks, including 33 theoretical sessions and 12 practical cases based on real-life situations.
Through these contents, the training provides a comprehensive introductory overview of aspects such as the regulatory and ethical framework for clinical research, the stakeholders involved, and the main operational aspects of clinical trials with medicines in Primary Care.
The initiative is aimed at healthcare and non-healthcare professionals, management staff and patients who participate or expect to participate in clinical research carried out in the Primary Care setting.
The programme also takes a multidisciplinary approach, with the participation of representatives from the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS), Research Ethics Committees for Medicines (CEIm), healthcare professionals, researchers, nursing professionals, the pharmaceutical industry and patient organisations.
The ICAP Training programme is the result of the work carried out by the Joint Primary Care Clinical Research Group and forms part of the actions set out in the ICAP Guide, with the aim of promoting clinical research that is closer to patients, more representative and more diverse, while expanding opportunities for professionals and patients to participate.
