The directors of both institutions explored new synergies following the participation of a Nigerian researcher in the 9th edition of the Science by Women program
The Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) and the Women for Africa Foundation held a meeting aimed at strengthening and revitalizing their collaboration within the framework of the Science by Women program. The meeting was attended by Galo Peralta, Director of IDIVAL; Juan Algar, Director General of MxA; and Beatriz Santacruz, Project Coordinator at the foundation.
The meeting builds on the joint trajectory initiated by both institutions thanks to the support of MxA and the CSAI Foundation, which enabled IDIVAL to host Nigerian scientist Aminah Abolore Sulayman in the 9th edition of the program. Sulayman is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). During her stay, she joined Emilio Rodrigo’s group, where she conducted research on integrated biofeedback control applied to hemodialysis systems.
Aminah Sulayman is a chemical engineer specialized in simulation software, with extensive experience in developing models and controllers for industrial and biomedical processes. Among her most notable achievements is a portable laboratory‑scale hemodialysis system, recognized at the LAUTECH International Research and Innovation Exhibition (LIRIDE 2022).
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both directors to meet in person and explore ways to continue and expand their collaboration in promoting a more diverse and inclusive scientific ecosystem.
