The Marqués de Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) invites all citizens to join the 16th Solidarity Walk “We Fight for Life”, which will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Municipal Stadium of Los Corrales de Buelna. This is the association’s most emblematic event, bringing together thousands of people every year who are committed to the fight against cancer.
The initiative was born from the legacy of Almudena Ruiz Pellón, whose story inspired the creation of the association. Since then, its work has focused on raising awareness about cancer, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, and raising funds for research and medical equipment.
Essential support for research in Cantabria
The collaboration between the association and IDIVAL has made it possible to drive numerous scientific projects. In recent years, the organization has allocated more than 325,000 euros to research initiatives and hospital equipment, including:
• Research on breast cancer and cutaneous lymphoma.
• Development of innovative systems such as microfluidics for triple metastatic breast cancer.
• Clinical equipment for Valdecilla, such as the PUVA system or devices for transplants and cardiac surgery.
It has also donated €29,137.90 to IDIVAL, a contribution that directly supports scientific progress and improves patient care.
How to participate
Registration has a symbolic cost of 3 euros and includes a commemorative T-shirt and backpack, race bib, and refreshment bag. Participating is a simple and accessible way to support research and accompany those living with the disease.
At IDIVAL, we would like to thank the commitment of the “We Fight for Life” Association and of all the people who take part every year. Their effort becomes research, innovation, and hope.
We encourage the entire Cantabrian community to join this solidarity walk and to walk together for life, for science, and for the future of oncology patients.
