The Marqués de Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) has opened the call for applications for the Mentoring Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at boosting the research careers of clinical professionals in training within the Public Health System of Cantabria. The call will remain open until 30 October 2026.
The Mentoring Programme seeks to attract new clinical professionals in training who wish to begin their research career during their specialised training period. From the third year of residency, selected candidates will receive a €5,000 grant to support research activities, managed according to IDIVAL’s project management regulations.
Candidate requirements
• Candidates must be second‑year residents in the Public Health System of Cantabria, enrolled in any of the programmes of the Spanish National Health System (MIR, FIR, QIR, PIR, RIR, BIR or EIR), with a score of at least 9 points in the annual evaluation report issued by the centre’s Teaching Committee.• The Head of Service, or equivalent figure, must approve the resident’s participation in the programme.
Required documentation
1. A written statement expressing interest in joining the Mentoring Programme and explaining the candidate’s motivations.
2. A letter from the Head of Service supporting the candidate’s participation in the programme.
3. First‑year evaluation issued by the centre’s Teaching Committee.
4. Research and training project to be developed.
5. Curriculum vitae of both the tutor and the candidate. The CV must be submitted in CVA format. Researchers affiliated with IDIVAL Groups may submit either their standardised CV or refer to the version available on the IDIVAL portal.
