18 de May de 2026

Granada will host the National Congress on Health and Digital Rights on May 26, an event promoted by the Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) to analyze the main challenges posed by digital transformation in the healthcare sector and its impact on citizens’ rights.

The congress, directed by Joaquín Cayón, head of IDIVAL’s Research Group on Health Law and Bioethics, will bring together professionals from the healthcare, legal, academic, and technological fields for a full-day program focused on topics such as health innovation, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, biomedical data protection, and the digitalization of pharmaceutical care.

Challenges of Digital Health

The event is organized by IDIVAL in collaboration with the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada and the Andalusian School of Public Health, with the support of the Project for the Implementation of the Digital Rights Charter in Domain 5, Specific Environments (Ref. C036/23-OT).

The scientific program will be structured into five roundtables and a communications session, featuring specialists from universities, hospitals, public administrations, and research centers across Spain and Europe.

The day will begin with a panel dedicated to digitalization and innovation in health, followed by sessions focused on telemedicine and new digital forms of healthcare delivery. It will also address the use of data as a tool for progress in biomedicine, with special attention to innovation and the protection of rights.

In the afternoon, national and international experts will discuss the application of artificial intelligence in health and the ethical, regulatory, and care-related challenges arising from its implementation. The congress will also examine the progress of digitalization in the pharmaceutical sector and the development of tools such as the interoperable electronic prescription.

The program will conclude with the presentation of scientific communications, the awarding of the prize for the best communication, and a closing dinner aimed at fostering networking among professionals and researchers.
