IDIVAL participated in the European project Health4EUkids meeting in Patras (Greece)

The Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL) took part in the meeting held in Patras (Greece) within the framework of the Health4EUkids project, a Joint Action co-funded by the European Commission through the EU4Health program. This was the third-to-last working meeting of the international consortium, which brings together representatives from 12 European countries to advance the implementation of best practices in health promotion.

Representing Spain, IDIVAL participates through the Health Economics Research Group, the Clinical and Translational Research Group in Digestive Diseases, and the Pediatrics Service of Valdecilla Hospital.

The Health4EUkids project aims to promote public policies that foster child and family health across Europe, encouraging physical activity, healthy eating, and the prevention of childhood obesity. The initiative pays special attention to disadvantaged communities, addressing aspects related to social norms, self-esteem, and encouraging community participation in reducing obesogenic environments and promoting healthy lifestyles.

During the Patras meeting, partners dedicated a central space to presenting and analyzing the local pilots carried out in the participating countries. In Spain’s case, the IDIVAL team shared the experience developed in Torrelavega, where initiatives have been launched to promote healthy lifestyles among children and families. This meeting also enabled an exchange of learnings and best practices among all European partners who carried out pilots, enriching the joint vision and generating synergies for the project’s final phase.

The consortium is made up of entities from Spain, Greece, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, and Slovenia. In Spain, in addition to IDIVAL, the following institutions are involved: Fundación Fisabio – Directorate General of Public Health and Addictions, Fundació Institut d’Investigació Sanitaria Illes Balears (IDISBA), Andalusian Health Service (SAS), Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), Andalusian School of Public Health (EASP), Department of Public Health and Addictions of the Basque Government (DSP), and the Conselleria de Sanidade of Galicia (CSG).
