The Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL) has released the draft of the calls under the Health Cluster of the Horizon Europe Programme 2026–2027, which are expected to open in mid-February.
The information presents a wide range of funding opportunities for health research and innovation projects, structured by deadline, submission format (single-stage or two-stage), and type of call. This includes calls framed within European partnerships, which have specific participation requirements and co-funding conditions involving different national agencies.
To ensure access to the most up-to-date version of the document, it is recommended to consult the official link of the European Commission directly, which will be automatically updated in the event of any changes: https://ec.europa.eu/transparency/comitology-register/screen/documents/107970/5
Calls with mid-April deadlines
These include topics focused on disease prevention, mental health, the impact of climate change on health, the development of new vaccines, therapies, and antimicrobials, as well as initiatives aimed at ensuring equitable and sustainable access to healthcare and promoting new digital and technological tools for health.
Calls with September deadlines
These cover proposals related to bioprinting for regenerative medicine, virtual human twins to support clinical decision-making, and progress towards general artificial intelligence applied to the healthcare sector.
Two-stage calls
Some strategic areas, such as those focused on non-communicable diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, AI-based predictive biomarkers, or point-of-care diagnostics, will be developed in two phases, with submission deadlines in April and September.
European partnership calls
The programme also includes co-funded calls within the framework of European partnerships, such as those dedicated to rare diseases, pandemic preparedness, and personalised medicine, which have specific participation requirements.
IDIVAL encourages researchers to review these opportunities and assess their suitability for future European collaborative research proposals.
