ISCIII publishes the 2026 IMPaCT call for the maintenance of the Precision Medicine Infrastructure

The Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) has published the 2026 call for grants aimed at the maintenance and implementation of the Precision Medicine Infrastructure associated with Science and Technology (IMPaCT), within the framework of the Strategic Action in Health 2024–2027.

The call aims to promote the generation and transfer of high-quality knowledge within the Spanish National Health System, fostering scientific and technical excellence, equity, and the efficient use of resources. The funded activities will be carried out over a five-year period.

Three programmes of action

The call covers the maintenance and implementation of the three programmes that make up IMPaCT:

• Predictive Medicine: focused on continuing the recruitment and follow-up of the population cohort, as well as incorporating new health assessments and making the information generated available to the scientific community.
• Data Science: aimed at developing standards and a federated system for the secure collection, integration, and analysis of clinical, molecular, and genetic data, ensuring interoperability with national and European initiatives.
• Genomic Medicine: aimed at consolidating infrastructure and coordination protocols to facilitate effective and equitable genomic analyses throughout Spain, with particular attention to the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases, hereditary cancer of unknown origin, and pre- and neonatal diagnosis.

Funding and application period

The maximum funding allocated to the call amounts to €50 million, with the possibility of increasing this amount by a further €5 million under certain circumstances established by the applicable regulations.

The application period will open on 8 September 2026 and close on 29 September 2026 at 3:00 p.m. (peninsular Spanish time).

Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the ISCIII electronic office, under the section corresponding to the Strategic Action in Health.

Required documentation

The documentation accompanying applications includes the application form for each entity, the programme-specific Action Plan, the Abbreviated CVs (CVA-ISCIII) of the programme coordinators, co-coordinators and principal investigators, a description of the participating team, and documentation relating to the representation and collaboration of the participating entities.

Among other aspects, the Action Plan must include information on the participating entities and researchers, links with other national and international projects and structures, available resources and infrastructure, the budget, the cooperation structure, scientific and technical relationships between the groups, and the work plan and specific indicators for each entity.
