On Thursday, 29 January, the next session of the Santander Biomedical Lectures programme will take place. On this occasion, Pilar Pinilla will deliver a lecture entitled:
“Decision‑making on medicine pricing and reimbursement: value frameworks, elements, and structured decision‑making”
Pilar Pinilla holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of La Laguna, and an MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Law with a specialisation in Health Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is an Associate Editor of the scientific journal Gaceta Sanitaria and currently serves as President of the Spanish Health Economics Association (AES), where she has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2020. Pilar is currently Programme Director – Methods, Research and Health Economics at NICE. She leads strategic direction and oversees the development of methods, scientific policy initiatives, the research portfolio, and the health economics function within the organisation.
She has more than 14 years of experience in technical and strategic leadership roles in the field of health economics, specialising in health technology assessment (HTA). At NICE, she has worked in the Technology Appraisals and Highly Specialised Technologies programmes, conducting evaluations. She has also been part of the NICE Advice team, advising industry on evidence generation plans, and has led the NICE International team, where she has advised governments from various countries on issues related to HTA and clinical practice guidelines.
Before joining NICE, Pilar worked at the Evaluation Service of the Canary Islands Health Service (SESCS), conducting systematic reviews and economic evaluations for the Spanish National Health System.
The session will take place in the Téllez Plasencia Hall (Building 16) of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital on Thursday, 29 January at 08:15. No registration is required. Free entry until full capacity is reached.
