Santander hosted a new edition of “Pint of Europe”, an event organized by the European Projects area of the Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL), with the support of the Directorate-General for European Funds of the Government of Cantabria. The aim was to bring European funding opportunities closer to the region’s research community. The event took place at Rvbicón in Santander and brought together professionals from the scientific and academic fields, as well as individuals interested in European R&D&I funding opportunities.
Conceived as an informal space to learn, connect, and share experiences, the event sought to familiarize the regional research community with European R&D&I funding opportunities. Through the presentation of Sarah Berrocoso, researcher and European project manager at Biosistemak, attendees received a highly practical overview of how to get started with these calls, the different programs available (Horizon Europe, EU4Health, COST, Erasmus+, Interreg, among others), and key tips to overcome the main barriers.
Additionally, Carmen Sarabia, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Cantabria, provided a detailed explanation of her experience leading JACARDI (Joint Action on Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes), one of the largest health Joint Actions funded to date under the EU4Health programme.
Participants learned in an engaging way about new avenues to develop projects that connect regional research with European programs, and they also highly valued the closeness and clarity with which both the challenges and opportunities of these initiatives were presented.
Pint of Europe has become a key meeting point to stimulate new collaborations, strengthen Cantabria’s presence in European research and innovation programs, and foster a more connected and competitive scientific ecosystem.
