Researchers from IDIVAL and the DG of Public Health present findings on smoking among primary care personnel at the European Health Congress in Finland

The research team from the Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) and the Directorate-General of Public Health of the Health Department of the Government of Cantabria took part in the European Health Congress held in Finland as part of the JA Prevent NCD project, where they presented the abstract titled “Trends in Tobacco Use Among Primary Care Personnel in Cantabria Between 2004 and 2024.”

This work offers a detailed analysis of tobacco consumption rates among healthcare professionals in Cantabria, a key group in promoting healthy habits among the population. The study examines how these patterns have evolved over the past two decades.

This analysis is part of the European project JA Prevent NCD, framed within work package 10. This initiative focuses on the prevention of non-communicable diseases, particularly those related to smoking and other unhealthy lifestyle habits. The project aims to strengthen collaboration among European countries to promote effective public health policies designed to prevent and control chronic diseases.
