Santander to host i-Days 2025, health innovation days for students organized by IDIVAL

Santander will host a new edition of the Innovation Days (i-Days) on October 22 and 23, an initiative promoted by EIT Health—one of the largest EU-funded health initiatives—aimed at fostering innovation in healthcare through the active participation of students from different academic fields.

The event, organized by the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (IDIVAL) in collaboration with the University of Cantabria, will bring together undergraduate and postgraduate students from various disciplines, as well as students from higher-level vocational training programs, to work in multidisciplinary teams. The goal is to develop innovative solutions to real challenges in the healthcare sector, with the support of experts and professionals.

The program includes group dynamics, training sessions on innovation methodologies such as design thinking, prototyping workshops, and project presentations designed to help participants tackle those healthcare challenges. In addition, students will have the opportunity to strengthen their creativity, teamwork, and communication skills—key abilities in today’s professional environments.

The schedule will take place over two days:
• October 22 (online): General introduction and first approach to the challenges.
• October 23 (in person): At the Assembly Hall of Pavilion 21 of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV), where presentations, team collaboration, and the final proposal presentations will take place.

The winning team in Santander will have the chance to represent the city at the European Winners’ Event, which this year will be held in Paris and will bring together the best teams from the local i-Days editions across Europe.

The i-Days are an opportunity for students to become familiar with innovation and entrepreneurship standards in the healthcare sector, take part in a hands-on learning environment, and contribute ideas that can have a direct impact on the lives of patients and citizens.
