The Mental Health Research Group at the Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL) hosted a session as part of the Neuroscience Workshop of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), attended by a total of 10 psychology professionals and students from five different countries.
The three-hour session was entitled “The Past, Present and Future of Neuropsychological Assessment in People with Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders and Their First-Degree Relatives.”
During the session, the results of three research lines developed over 25 years (2001–2026) from a neuropsychological perspective were presented and discussed: PAFIP, PAFIP-FAMILIAS and PAFIP-OFFSPRING. These projects focus on the study of schizophrenia spectrum disorders and on how they affect both patients and their first-degree relatives.
The session was led by Rosa Ayesa, Claudia Parás and Covadonga García San Nicolás, who provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the progress of this research, from its beginnings to the most recent findings, as well as the research lines being considered for the future.
The international profile of the participants, who came from five different countries, fostered a valuable and enriching discussion, bringing together different professional perspectives and experiences on neuropsychological assessment.
