Valdecilla hosts a conference on the clinical and translational applications of genomics using NGS

23/06/26

The Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, through the Marqués de Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL), will hold on 23 June a conference dedicated to the clinical and translational applications of genomics using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, a key tool for advancing precision medicine.

Under the title “Transforming Medicine Through Genomics: Clinical and Translational Applications of NGS”, the event will bring together specialists from the healthcare, scientific and technological fields to discuss the latest developments in genetic diagnosis, rare diseases, oncology, microbiology and personalised medicine.

The session will begin with an introduction to Illumina’s activity and roadmap, followed by a presentation of the hospital’s Genomics Core. Throughout the programme, speakers will address new genomic solutions for hereditary and rare diseases, the applications of sequencing in oncology and translational research, as well as its role in microbiology and genomic surveillance.

In addition, professionals from the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital will share their experience in reference laboratories, while multiomics experts will explore the future of omics technologies and their impact on clinical practice and biomedical research.

The event will take place from 12:30 to 15:30 in classrooms 2–3 of Pavilion 16 at Valdecilla (1st floor) and will conclude with an open Q&A and discussion session.
