The IDIVAL is a member of GEMSTONE, a recently granted COST action. COST actions are projects funded by the European Union with the objective of creating and strengthening international research networks. GEMSTONE (GEnomics of MusculoSkeletal traits TransnatiOnal Network) aims to enhance the investigation of the genetic and genomic factors involved in skeletal diseases and their translation into practice.
Financed with 500,000 Euros, its activity is organized around various work packages (genomic scan analysis, bioinformatics, rare diseases, etc.). In GEMSTONE 24 countries participate and is coordinated by a steering committee of which Dr. José A. Riancho, IDIVAL researcher of the Mineral and Lipid Metabolism Group is part.
Biomedical research and innovation are only possible thanks to everyone’s collaboration. This is how we move forward in improving the health of patients and the wider community
