As indicated in the Statutes and the Rules of Organization and Operation of IDIVAL the External Scientific Council is a non-hierarchical organizational structure for scientific advice that contributes to the achievement of scientific excellence pursued by the IDIVAL. It is composed of people from the field of health sciences renowned in the scientific community. The External Scientific Council is appointed by the Board on a proposal from the scientific direction of IDIVAL.

As it reflected in the Statutes and Regulations IDIVAL Organization and Functioning the Internal Scientific Council is a non-hierarchical organizational structure for scientific advice and for assessment of the research activity IDIVAL. It is chaired by the scientific director of IDIVAL and is composed of researchers from the Institute, some of which act as coordinators for each of the research areas.

It is an independent body that oversees the protection of the rights, safety and welfare of subjects participating in clinical trials and of studies involving patients. Furthermore, it evaluates the methodological, ethical and legal aspects of clinical research projects.
